Profile of Oz Osmundson
Chris “Oz” Osmundson has been blessed to find Crested Butte and call it home, to raise a family of four children, three dogs and two horses. He attended Western State Colorado University in the fall of 1975 and never left after graduating in 1980. He began working at Flatiron Sports as a freshman in college. He and his business partner of 34 years, G.J. Santelli, purchased the business in 1981. They spent a total of forty years in the ski shop until they sold it in 2015.
Oz has served his community in many capacities. He was the President of the Chamber of Commerce, a Panel Member for the lodging tax, and President of the Mt. Crested Butte Business Association. Through the years, he has supported youth ski racing, CBCS Booster Club, the Gunnison Valley Health Foundation, Tough Enough to Wear Pink, and many youth sporting teams.
Oz brings many years of experience in real estate as a builder, developer, and independent contractor, to his clients. In 1988, he and G.J. Santelli, along with their general partner Paul Piper, build the Treasury Center in Mt. Crested Butte, which is the current location of Flatiron Sports and other retail shops and restaurants. Oz also developed “Teocalli Townhomes,” in the Skyland Residential Neighborhood. He rezoned the property and went through the counties LUR process down zoning the property from high density multi-family to fee simple townhome ownership. He was also the general contractor, eventually building a home for himself and other owners. Through the years, Oz has done numerous remodeling projects, from small to extensive, throughout the community.
After the sale of Flatiron Sports in 2015, Oz ‘retired,’ in his own way. He started two small businesses in Gunnison and has been involved in remodeling projects in Crested Butte for various customers. Most recently, he remodeled an office space for his wife, Nancy, who started Master Title with her partner J. Robert Davis.
Oz is so grateful to all his customers from the last four decades, for the fun and for the great relationships he has built and treasures. He was presented with an exciting opportunity for a new venture with Kiley Flint of Crested Butte Sotheby’s International Realty. Since then, the two have formed The Flint-Osmundson Group.
