Colorado Governor Hickenlooper signs bill to extend long-term funding for land conservation.

June 1, 2018 – Who’s Who in Luxury Real Estate Board of Regents member Cathy Benson of Crested Butte Sotheby’s International Realty joined other local business owners and community members at the I Bar Ranch in Gunnison to witness Governor John Hickenlooper sign bill SB 18-066, extending long-term funding for outdoor programs such as Great Outdoors Colorado.  Great Outdoors Colorado provides support to land conservation projects across the entire state, one of which is the Gunnison Ranchland Conservation Legacy.

Benson serves as a board member for the Gunnison Ranchland Conservation Legacy (GRCL). The GRCL works with established land trusts to assist ranching families protect their lands with conservation easements. Since its conception in 1996, the GRCL has helped families preserve more than 36,000 acres of ranchland. This acreage will not only guarantee the future of agricultural endeavors in the Gunnison Valley but also help maintain wildlife habitat and ensure that beautiful open space will not be developed.
